The ramblings of a man on an adventure called life...

4 notes

Back to The Big Top (our club’s new name) for our Sunday class workout.  I was really hoping for mostly leg work and no arm work after Friday’s big workout, but apparently it wasn’t meant to be.
We did the above for 24 min AMRAP.  Every time we took a break during a round we had to sprint out and back to a truck about 150’ away in the parking lot.  If we got through round 1 without a break, we earned a “gimme” where we could skip one run.  I used a 45# bar with 30# on it, so 75# total for my first time barbell work.
I got through round 1 fairly easy.  Took a breather and hit round 2.  A little more difficult, but still got through it without a break.  Round 3 I hit a wall after the press.  I just quite couldn’t get the first back squat in and took a breather…using up my “gimme.”  Then in round 4 I hit another wall after the dead lifts and I took off for my sprint (the only person to do this during the workout, but also using the heaviest weight of everyone too).  I got back and finished out round 4 and took another breather.  By then there was one minute left and I was able to get in a couple dead lifts of round 5 before the bell.  Then he had everyone finish off with an out and back sprint.
One of the best parts is that he is always watching and coming over to assist with form if needed and always coaching and cheering everyone on, especially when he sees you hitting a wall.  Then you not only don’t want to let yourself down, but you don’t want to let him down either, so it pushes you to go further than you would think you could.
I am loving this place and even though I am so sore right now after these two grueling workouts, I can’t wait for the next time I go.  It’s a great feeling.
Now to watch a movie with the Little Man before he has to go to bed.
